Ingredients:
- 1 cup
old-fashioned oats
- 1/2
cup natural peanut butter
- 1/3
cup honey or maple syrup
- 1/4
cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4
cup ground flaxseeds
- 1/4
cup dark chocolate chips
- 1
teaspoon vanilla extract
- A
pinch of salt
Directions:
Prepare the Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the old-fashioned oats, unsweetened cocoa powder, ground flaxseeds, dark chocolate chips, and a pinch of salt. Mix well to ensure even distribution of ingredients.Create the Binding Mixture: In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the natural peanut butter and honey (or maple syrup) for about 20-30 seconds, until slightly melted. Stir the mixture until smooth. Add the vanilla extract and mix again.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Pour the peanut butter mixture over the dry ingredient mixture. Using a spatula or clean hands, thoroughly combine all the ingredients until a sticky dough forms.
Press into Pan: Line a 9x9-inch square pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal. Transfer the dough to the pan and press it down firmly and evenly using your hands or the back of a spoon.
Chill:
Place the pan in the refrigerator and let the mixture chill for at least
30 minutes. This will help the bars set and become easier to slice.
Slice
into Bars: Once the mixture is firm, remove the pan from the
refrigerator. Lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper
overhang. Place them on a cutting board and slice into 12 even bars.
